Raimonds Petrauskis (Latvia)-2017-

Raimonds Petrauskis (1979) studied piano at the Auce music school with Inga Silina, later at the Jazeps Medins Riga Secondary Music School with Gunta Boza. He has graduated from the Jazeps Vitols Latvian Academy of Music, class of Professor Juris Kalnciems, obtaining Bachelor’s degree in 2004 and Master’s degree in 2006. Latvian pianist has also refined his professional skills at the Hamburg Academy of Music and Theater, piano class of Professor Volker Banfield (2003-2004) and at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London, piano class of Professor Ronan O’Hora and jazz piano class of Professor Simon Purcell (2004-2005). He has studied free improvisation with Professor Anto Pett during special mastercourses at the Estonian Academy of Music in Tallin (2005). Since year 2006 Raimonds Petrauskis continues his postgraduate studies at the Latvian Academy of Music under Professor Jelena Lebedeva and is also teaching at the Jazeps Medins Riga Music Secondary School.

Mr. Petrauskis has won prizes at several international piano competitions: 2nd prize at the International piano competition in Rome (1998), 1st prize at the International Nikolay Rubinstein piano competition in Paris (2000), 3rd prize at the International Val Tidone piano competition in Milan (2002) and at the 4th International Jazeps Vitols piano competition in Riga (2002). Along his artistic success Raimonds Petrauskis has received various musical awards and scholarships. Mr. Petrauskis is the winner of the pianist Olgerts Ziverss Award (2004) and the Scholarship of the Guilhall School of Music and Drama (2004) As a pianist and a member of chamber ensembles, together with saxophone player Oskars Petrauskis and Rihards Zalupe- playing the marimba&percussion instruments, is regularly performing in concerts and festivals. As soloist, Raimonds Petrauskis, has collaborated with Latvian National Symphony Orchestra, Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, Latvian Academy of Music Symphony Orchestra, Riga New Chamber Orchestra and professional woodwinds orchestra Riga. During his musical carrier, Raimonds Petrauskis has performed in Baltic states, Scandinavian countries, Germany, Italy, France, Slovakia, U.K., Croatia, Russia, as well as made recordings for National Radio and TV.
