Vasco Trilla started playing percussion when he was nineteen. At first he played progressive rock and metal, but gradually became interested in various genres such as jazz, Indian and African music, klezmer, improvisation, etc. He studied art history. Since 2010 he has worked, toured and recorded with many different bands and projects, including avant-rock with October Equus, The Oddvisers and Planeta Imaginario, mambo free rock with Reptilian Mambo, jazz and „world” music with Boi Akih and Mundo Flotante. He was also a member of the Filthy Habits Ensemble, a jazz octet playing the repertoire of Frank Zappa and Stravinsky, the group Cows On Trees, a jazz/improvisation quartet with saxophonist Yedo Gibson, Susana Santos Silva and Kaja Draksler, and the duo Balimonster.
In 2010 and 2020, Vasco Trilla focused on the improvisational music scene; he developed extended drum techniques, using percussion as a textural-melodic instrument.
